Now You’re
Dancing was formed in 2001 as a company with a mission to
make social dancing fun and accessible for everyone through
instructional DVDs and videotapes. We are committed to producing
videos that focus on partnering (lead and follow) as well
as the improvisation and play of social dancing, rather than
steps and the formal aspect of ballroom dancing. Our first
instructional video/DVD, The Wedding Dance, was released in
April of 2002 and has received rave reviews from critics and
customers alike. Further titles will include Now You’re
Dancing Swing, Now You’re Dancing Salsa, and Now You’re
Dancing Argentine Tango. All are designed for the absolute
beginner to learn in the comfort of their living room.
The
Founders of Now You’re Dancing, Paul Overton and Sharon
Ashe, have been dancing and teaching together ever since they
met on the dance floor eight years ago. They are experienced
performers and choreographers but their passion and focus
for many years has been to teach the language of social dancing.
Their fun and easy teaching style has made them sought after
instructors throughout the United States and Europe. Paul
and Sharon enjoy teaching all of the partner dances but their
specialty and their love is Lindy Hop, the original style
of swing dance. They live and teach local classes in Durham, North Carolina.
